We wait eagerly for the monsoons to arrive -- for the beautiful fragrance of the mud, and the lovely view of greenery everywhere is truly a delightful sight. We can never get enough of it. But with great rains, comes great responsibility. With dampness everywhere, drying cloth diapers and other clothes may seem to be an endless task. We fear cloth diapering in the rainy season but it’s not as difficult as it looks. Here are some tips for maintaining and washing your SuperBottoms cloth diapers during monsoons to keep them as good as new!
Here are some great tips to use cloth diapers successfully during the rains:
Tip 1: Use the right cloth diapers:
Multi-size Waterproof Outers come with 100% organic cotton Dry Feel Regular Pad which are great for both day & night time.
Tip 2: Have a decent stash:
Multi-size Waterproof Outers come with 100% organic cotton Dry Feel Regular Pad which is great for both day & night time. Depending upon your child’s age and weight, you can choose which SuperBottoms diaper you want to go with – Newborn Cloth Diaper or Freesize Diaper.
Tip 3: Change frequently:
During winter and rainy season, babies tend to pee more than usual(1). Changing frequently is an excellent idea as well as more hygienic. This is why we recommend having a decent stash.
Tip 4: Skin care:
Skin care is not really a tedious task when you are using cloth diapers. Wipe the baby’s bottom with a moist cloth/ Organic Cloth wipes and pat dry. Apply coconut oil before putting on a fresh diaper. There is absolutely no need to use rash creams or talcum powder. Coconut oil is the best moisturizer for babies. Invest in the best reusable diapers in India, SuperBottoms Diapers, so that you do not have to constantly worry about the skincare and rashes for your baby, because of the quality of cloth diapers SuperBottoms offers, there is no compromise.
Tip 5: Wash the diapers everyday :
Try not to wait for alternate days to wash cloth diapers if you do not have a sufficient stash. Washing them every day is better for the durability of diapers, especially during the rains. It’s best not to leave them damp for longer hours and also so that you have enough for the next day. Washing cloth diapers in a washing machine is also better than hand washing them because machine wash gives a good agitation to cloth diapers and the diaper inserts.
Tip 6: Drying tips:
Spin dry the diaper inserts as well as the diapers. Line dry them once done. Keep it under the fan overnight and tadaa…see the magic next day.
Tip 7: Use homemade flats or Easy Clean Top Sheets :
The most economical way to use cloth diapers with a limited stash is to use Easy Clean Top Sheets. You can make them at home too by cutting cotton saree or old cotton t-shirts into huge squares, pad fold them. Use this with cover diapers and see how easy it is. Home made flats, covers and Easy Clean Top Sheets also dry fastest as compared to any other diaper or diaper inserts. Fleece liners are a thin sheet of fleece that provides dry feel to the baby. The diapers are also easy to clean if the baby poops because most of the poop is caught on the liner and your job of cleaning the poop becomes much easier.
Tip 8: Try a bit of Magic with Dry Feel Magic Dry Pads.
SuperBottoms Dry Feel Magic Dry Pads are perfectly made soakers especially with monsoons in mind. They are compatible with SuperBottoms UNO diapers and are designed to dry in half the time that it takes regular soakers to dry. These will soon become your best friend in the monsoon season.
So that’s all, isn’t cloth diapering in monsoons easier than what we promised before we began this blog?
